Trainers: Tracy Ward
Since age 8, Tracy’s life has revolved around horses and horsemanship. Beginning with her first pony, through experiences with her Dad’s quarter horse in Pony Club and Hunter Jumper shows, Tracy knew she wanted to devote her life to learning as much as she could about horses.
In 1982 she landed in the Santa Ynez Valley riding racehorses for Flag Is Up Farms, and then for almost every other thoroughbred training center in the valley including Rancho Jonata, River Edge Farm, and D. Wayne Lukas when he won nine Triple Crown races in a row. Riding as many as twenty horses a day, six days a week, will teach anyone willing to pay attention a lot about horses. She also spent a few years working in Orange County for top Hunter Jumper barns.
Tracy eventually began working with outside horses; starting colts, gathering cattle, working with a wide variety of problem horses and helping people understand their personal horses. She spent some time with Sue Davidge learning more about the beautiful communication available through the discipline of classical dressage. Also she became a professional whipper-in for the Santa Ynez Valley Hounds introducing new people to the sport of fox hunting. In addition, Tracy serves on the board of the Santa Ynez Valley Equestrian Association representing Hunter Jumpers putting on play days and hunter jumper shows, team pens and sorts with the Valley Penning Association, and helps the local CDS with their events.
Now Tracy has brought her program to Bella Cavalli Farms and you will find that she has an entertaining way of presenting the information that seems to stick with you. She strives to make riding as easy and enjoyable an experience as possible, for both the rider and the horse, no matter the discipline.
